Christopher Grubb was at @High Point Market a few weeks back and while there he had the pleasure of interviewing Jeni Canaan of #Surya, with our friends at House Tipster, and their one-stop shop for home accessories!
In this kitchen the client had some specific wants:
-A special finish for the kitchen cabinetry was inspired from an antique decorative box the client had. The cabinetry is custom made with a hand distressing that gives sense it is cabinetry to feel as if it was brought from Asia and assembled as a kitchen new topped with a new crown.
The glass fronts of the cabinetry visually make the kitchen look like it has more depth. The interior shelves are wood framed with a glass inset so that the cabinetry down lights shine through the shelves making it easier to see what is inside and providing a nice relaxing glow in the evening.
New oak flooring was installed to match what was existing and because it’s contiguous with the dining room and living room, the entire area looks larger and more joined together visually.
The limestone backsplash is of three rectangular shapes at three heights in a offset pattern. It adds a special feeling of a natural material, highlighted with the undercabinet lighting. Because of the subtleness of the pattern, it looks like a full back splash that matches the counter versus a textured mosaic.
